- Curcumin is a bright yellow chemical produced by plants of the Curcuma longa species. Ongoing clinical trials are exploring the anticancer effects of curcumin.
- Piperine is an alkaloid present in black pepper, one of the most widely used spices, in long pepper, and other Piper species fruits belonging to the family of Piperaceae. Ongoing clinical trials are exploring the anticancer effects of Piperine.
- Placebo is a substance that has no therapeutic effect and can be used as a control in testing new drugs in clinical trials.
