A Phase 1/2 Multi-Center Trial of Vorinostat for Graft vs Host Disease Prevention in Children, Adolescents and Young Adults Undergoing Allogeneic Blood and Marrow Transplantation

What's the purpose of the trial?

The purpose of this study is to determine the recommended phase 2 dose of the drug Vorinostat in children, adolescents and young adults following allogeneic blood or marrow transplant (BMT) and determine whether the addition of Vorinostat to the standard graft versus host disease (GVHD) prophylaxis will reduce the incidence of GVHD.

  • Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant is a type of stem cell transplant that utilizes a donor's pre-collected stem cells to rescue the bone marrow from the toxic effects of very high dose chemotherapy.
  • Cyclophosphamide is a chemotherapy agent used in the treatment of cancer.
  • Methotrexate is a chemotherapy medication that may be used in the treatment of many different cancers.
  • Mycophenolate Mofetil is an immunosuppressive medication used to help prevent rejection in patients who have had a transplant.
  • Tacrolimus is an immunosuppressive medication used to help prevent rejection in patients who have had a transplant.
  • Vorinostat is an HDAC inhibitor that is FDA approved for use in treating cutaneous T cell lymphoma (CTCL). It is being studied for use in several other indications.
